VnsPortal AI Voice Agents

Build an AI phone agent without building a webhook service

VnsPortal AI Voice Agents give you a guided way to configure, test, publish, and assign a Realtime voice agent to your Voice Elements phone numbers. Start from a QuickStart template or create a blank agent, then manage the agent's instructions, voice, tools, transfers, media, SMS, recording, and failure behavior from one place.

Why use the portal?

Everything a standard agent needs, managed for you — with the developer contract still available when you need dynamic per-call decisions.

Start faster

Choose a ready-to-customize QuickStart template or create a blank agent.

No custom webhook app

For standard agents, VNS serves the published agent configuration and handles the normal CallStart/CallEnd lifecycle.

Guided configuration

Edit Instructions, AI & Voice, Media & Call Flow, Tools & Integrations, Transfers, SMS, Logging & Recording, Failure Handling, and Phone Numbers — without hand-authoring the JSON.

Safe publishing

Save drafts, validate, publish a specific revision, inspect older revisions, and restore a prior revision as a new draft.

Secure integrations

Map credential profiles without placing provider secrets in agent instructions or browser-visible JSON.

Reusable media

Manage account-scoped Media Library files and map stable media references into call flows.

Put it on a number

Assign a published agent to an eligible phone number and enable it when you're ready.

Place a real test call

Use Send Outbound Call on the Phone Numbers page for an eligible, active published agent. Normal calling charges may apply.

QuickStart templates

QuickStart is a gallery of ready-to-customize agents. Review a template's instructions and features, select Use This Template, map any required credential profiles, and create an independent draft in your account. Publishing or changing the gallery template later does not silently change an agent you already imported.

QuickStart accelerates configuration — it doesn't skip the prerequisites. You still need your own OpenAI (or Azure OpenAI) credentials, phone-number setup, the right account permissions, and your own review of how the agent behaves before you put it in front of callers. See the OpenAI Account Setup guide.

Set it up yourself

Setup is self-service in VnsPortal: create an account, save your OpenAI key, get a phone number, start from a template, publish, and call it.

Managed agent or developer-controlled?

Most teams start in the portal. Choose the webhook contract when each call needs its own dynamic decisions.
