Everything is self-service in VnsPortal. Create an account, pick a ready-made agent, put it on a phone number, and make your first call — no code required.

Before you start

You need two things.

An email address

You'll use it to create your VnsPortal account.

An OpenAI API key

Your agent's voice runs on your own OpenAI account. A ChatGPT subscription isn't enough — follow the OpenAI Account Setup guide. Using Microsoft Azure instead? See Azure OpenAI.

Set up your first agent

Seven steps, all in VnsPortal.

  1. 1

    Create your account

    Go to vnsportal.voiceelements.com and choose Create account on the sign-in screen, then follow the prompts.

    The sign-in screen is branded Inventive Labs — the company behind Voice Nexus. That's expected.

    Save your OpenAI key

    In the portal's API Keys section, add your OpenAI key and give it a name you'll recognize, such as MyOpenAiKey. The key stays stored in VnsPortal — you'll just pick it by name later.

    Get a phone number

    Add a phone number to your account on the Phone Numbers page. This is the number callers will dial to reach your agent.

  4. 4

    Start from a template

    Open QuickStart, look through the ready-made agents, and select Use This Template on the one closest to what you need. When asked, choose the OpenAI key you saved in step 2. You get your own copy to edit.

    Prefer to start from scratch? Choose Create Blank Agent instead.

  5. 5

    Make it yours

    Edit Instructions to describe your business and what the agent should do, and pick a voice under AI & Voice. That's all you need for a first test — transfers, text messages, recordings, and the rest can wait.

    Publish and connect your number

    Save your agent, fix anything the portal flags, and Publish it. Then, on the Phone Numbers page, assign the agent to your number and turn on AI Voice Agent routing.

  7. 7

    Call it

    Dial your number from any phone, or use Send Outbound Call on the Phone Numbers page to have the agent call you. Normal calling charges may apply.

Changing your agent later

Edit it any time, then publish again. Callers keep hearing the published version until you do, and you can go back to an earlier version if you need to.

Are you a developer?

You still create your account and get your number in VnsPortal. If each call needs its own logic, your application can then control calls through webhooks instead of a portal-built agent.
